HAROLD SHAPIRO
Director

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (SA), Harold Shapiro began his stockbroking career on Wall Street in 1970. In the following year he joined leading Johannesburg stockbrokers, Max Pollak and Freemantle becoming a Partner in 1975.

In 1986 Harold immigrated to Australia with his family and after working for stockbrokers Bain and Company and Eric Morgan, in 1990 he joined BOS Stockbroking as its Managing Director. In 1993, following a Management Buy Out, the firm was rebranded Shaw Stockbroking (now Shaw and Partners) after its three founders “Shapiro, Hannah, And White.”

Harold led Shaw as Managing Director for some 19 years growing the company from a small unprofitable business into one of Australia’s leading specialist Private Client Stockbroking houses upon his retirement in 2009.

Harold’s industry contribution was acknowledged in 2009 when the Australian Stockbrokers’ Foundation voted him “Stockbroker of the Year” and a “Member of the Australian Stockbroking Hall of Fame.”

Since 2014 Harold has acted as an Expert Witness on some of Australia’s most high profile matters acting for Regulators, Investment Bankers, Stockbrokers and Private Individuals on matters within his expertise including Insider Trading, Market Manipulation, and Claims by Clients against Stockbrokers and vice versa.

Harold has also acted as a Senior Adviser to a leading Public Relations company regarding Investor Relations for ASX Listed Corporations.

Harold was an Executive Patron of the Taronga Conservation Foundation. The Foundation supports the Taronga Conservation Society through fundraising in its vital role to assist in the protection of endangered species, increasing understanding of wildlife and inspiring community action.

ISABELLE SHAPIRO OAM
Director

Since being elected in 2004, Isabelle Shapiro has represented the Bellevue Hill community as a Councillor on Woollahra Municipal Council. She served a term as Mayor and currently, until 2024, is in her third term as Deputy-Mayor. Her particular areas of interest and achievement are in planning, community safety and public art. She is the instigator of the award winning suicide prevention measures at Gap Park, Watson’s Bay, which is recognized as “world’s best practice”. Also of note is her introduction of Public Art to Woollahra and the Council’s graffiti policy.

In June, 2013,  Isabelle was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to the Community of Woollahra, New South Wales.

Following on the work at Gap Park, Isabelle continued her work in mental health and Chaired a Community Suicide Prevention Strategy.

Isabelle is a trained advocate and speaker for Breast Cancer and assists researchers in grant applications. She was Chair of the Jewish Women’s Breast Cancer Network and Founder and Chair of two cancer support groups for women.

From 2013 to 2020, Isabelle served on the Executive of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies rising to the role of Vice President.

In 2016, Isabelle was awarded the honour of Woollhara “Citizen of the Year” for her “Outstanding Contribution to Our Community”.
